The Near Post’s EFL Player Stat Leaders (as of 14th November 2022)

With the Championship pausing for the World Cup and a clear week in Leagues One & Two, it feels like a good time to check in on our player stat leaders!

In the Championship, a whopping eight players have scored nine goals and five players have registered six assists. Elsewhere, no player in the top four tiers of English football has completed more dribbles in their respective league this season than Sheffield United’s World Cup-bound star Iliman Ndiaye (42). Unsurprisingly, Preston North End’s defensive duo of Jordan Storey and Liam Lindsay also feature heavily.

Peterborough United’s Jonson Clarke-Harris leads the race for the League One Golden Boot with 12 goals from his first 18 appearances. Exeter City’s Jevani Brown has provided eight assists, in addition to his nine league goals. Meanwhile, no player in the top four tiers of English football has made more key passes in their respective league this season than Sheffield Wednesday’s wee Scottish magician Barry Bannan (63).

Northampton Town’s Sam Hoskins has scored more goals than any other player in the EFL this season (13). It remains to be seen whether or not Sam can use the World Cup break to reel in Erling Haaland, who already has 18 Premier League goals to his name. Barrow’s Ben Whitfield continues to impress with nine assists from his 45 key passes. Finally, the season may only be just over three and half months old, but Harrogate Town’s Luke Armstrong has already won 23 more aerial duels than any other player in the Premier League or the EFL (159).
