The Near Post’s EFL Form Guide (as of 22nd December 2022)

Tis the season to be jolly and be near the top of our EFL form guides!

In the Championship, Burnley, West Brom and Sheffield United have all picked up 15 points from their last six league games. West Brom’s upturn in form under Carlos Corberan is almost matched by Middlesbrough’s resurgence under Michael Carrick. Elsewhere, Coventry City’s poor start to the season is nothing more than a distant memory. The Sky Blues are now just one point off the play-offs with a game in hand on the teams around them.

Michael Duff’s Barnsley are the form horses in League One. The Tykes have won their last five games; establishing themselves in the top six. Sheffield Wednesday’s good run has been slowed by three successive draws, while neither Plymouth Argyle or Ipswich Town make the cut.

Unsurprisingly, League Two’s runaway leaders Leyton Orient are sitting pretty at the top of the fourth tier form guide. Hot on Orient’s heels are Walsall, AFC Wimbledon and Stockport County, who have all turned a significant corner in the last month or so.
